HID lists Mercury LP and MP controller families including LP1501, LP1502, LP2500, LP4502 and newer MP-series controllers. These controller families are used by multiple access-control software vendors, which makes the software platform and firmware version important parts of hardware selection.

What is the difference between Mercury LP and MP controllers?

They are different controller generations. Exact feature, firmware and host-platform support varies, so the correct model should be selected against the access-control software vendor’s compatibility requirements.

Can a Mercury controller be reused with a different access-control platform?

Mercury is an open controller ecosystem, but practical reuse depends on the exact controller generation, firmware, host software and licensing.

Can Wiegand readers be replaced with OSDP readers?

Often, yes. Cable topology, conductor count, controller support and software configuration need to be reviewed first.
